Why a West Country site feels different
The big apps are built for the whole country at once. That is their strength: huge numbers of people, slick phone apps and a lot of engineering behind every feature. It also means a single in Bideford or Bodmin is sharing a service designed around London, Manchester and Birmingham, where a ten-minute radius holds thousands of people.
Westcountry Singles starts from the other end. It is built for people who live in the South West: members pick their own town, so your search is about Taunton or Truro rather than a dot on a national map. The people you meet know the A30 in August and the last bus out of Barnstaple. Most of our members are in their late thirties, forties and early fifties, the age when people usually know what they want and have less patience for endless swiping.
None of that makes a national app wrong for you. Plenty of people use both, and each comparison below has a section on when the other service might be the better choice. Read the ones that matter to you, then try the site that fits how you like to meet people.

Fair comparisons you can trust
We wrote these pages ourselves and we are obviously not neutral, so we have tried to be fair instead. Every statement about another service comes from what that service says publicly about itself or from well-documented public sources, checked in October 2026. We describe what each one does well, we do not quote other people's prices because they change often, and we do not repeat rumours about anyone. If something has moved on since we wrote it, the other service's own website is the place to check.
For our side, everything is on the site itself: what members can do is on the features page, membership costs are on pricing, and how we keep members safe is on safety. If you want to see which towns our members live in, start with our locations. For a wider look at the options in the region, read the best dating sites in the South West.
