The quay and the canal
The quay is good for a coffee or a walk along the river and canal, and the towpath is flat and busy enough for an easy first hour.
Around the cathedral
The cafés and pubs around the cathedral are central and busy, and the green is the classic place to say "I'm the one by the bench".
The city walls
Rougemont and Northernhay Gardens sit right beside the old city wall, quiet and in the centre at the same time.
Out to the estuary
Topsham and the Exe estuary are a short hop away. The trail along the water heads on to Exmouth for a longer second date.
