In January 2026 a Berlin court placed Spark Networks Services, the German company within the Spark Networks group that runs SilverSingles, under preliminary insolvency administration. Its sister site EliteSingles closed at the end of April 2026, and on 6 October 2026 the UK web address for SilverSingles could not be reached. We cannot say what happens next, and SilverSingles may yet carry on. If you have a membership there, or are thinking of buying one, it is sensible to check the service is still running and what happens to any time you have paid for. A questionnaire, or the person down the road
SilverSingles has asked every new member to complete a personality questionnaire, based on the well-known five-factor model, and uses the answers to suggest people it thinks you will get on with. If you enjoy that kind of thing and like being handed a shortlist, it is a thoughtful way to start.
We take a more hands-on approach. You write your profile in your own words, set the age range and distance you want, and choose what matters to you: the kind of relationship you are after, whether someone smokes or drinks, the interests you share. The best questionnaire in the world cannot shorten the A30. A highly compatible match in Kent is still a long way from Launceston.
